Stingrays Weekly: Zooperstars, Pack the House Night Highlight Big Weekend for Stingrays

The South Carolina Stingrays tangled with the Reading Royals, Greenville Road Warriors and Florida Everblades this week for a record of 4-0-0-0 and pushed their winning streak to a season-high nine games. The Stingrays and Royals wrapped up their season series Monday afternoon at the Sovereign Center. In the final game of a seven-game road trip, the Stingrays erased three one-goal deficits for a 4-3 victory. The Stingrays returned to the North Charleston Coliseum to host the Road Warriors Friday evening. Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien had a goal and two assists and forwards Trent Campbell and Maxime Lacroix each netted a goal and an assist en route to a 4-1 win. The momentum spilled into Saturday against the Everblades. Stingrays Captain Matt Scherer recorded the game-winning goal on the power play and added an assist in a 3-1 triumph. The two teams collided once more on Sunday with the Stingrays prevailing 3-0. Goaltender Daren Machesney stopped all 30 Everblades shots and defenseman Nick Tabisz scored two goals.

The Stingrays are first in the South Division with 50 points and second overall in the Eastern Conference.

Forward Trent Campbell is tied for first in the ECHL with three shorthanded assists.

Goaltender Philipp Grubauer ranks fourth in the ECHL with a 2.15 goals-against average, a .923 save percentage and 16 wins.

Netminder Daren Machesney is sixth in the league with a 2.39 goals-against average.

Defenseman Johann Kroll is tied for second among league bluliners with two shorthanded points (1g, 1a).

Defenseman Zach Tarkir is tied for 16 among ECHL defensemen with 18 points (5g, 13a) tied for first with three game-winning goals.
