LAST WEEK IN REVIEW

Monday, January 16; Fallon Leads Las Vegas to Another Home Win

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Colorado Eagles, 5-1, scoring five unanswered goals and getting great work from goaltender Joe Fallon . Fallon stopped 32 of 33 shots, netting his league-leading 19th win of the season, and improving Las Vegas' record at home to 16-3-2.

Friday, January 20; Ulanski Plays Hero Again in Back-and-Forth Game Against Reign

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Colorado Eagles defeated the Ontario Reign, 6-4, in a back-and-forth affair to kick off a weekend set between the teams. Kevin Ulanski scored the game-winner and Chad Costello iced the contest with an empty-net tally as each player scored a pair of goals in the win.

Saturday, January 21; Costello Earns Another Shot in AHL; Will Join Combs in Worcester

The Colorado Eagles of the ECHL announced today that the league's leading scorer, Chad Costello, has been loaned to an American Hockey League team for the second time within the past three weeks. This time he'll be joining the Worcester Sharks, and his former linemate Jack Combs.

Costello currently leads the ECHL in points (57), assists (35) & plus/minus rating (+21), and is tied for second in goals (22). He's also riding a nine-game point streak that's tied for the second-longest in the league.

Saturday, January 21; Eagles Split Series, Ontario Reigns 4-2 in Victory

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Colorado Eagles fell, 2-4, to the Ontario Reign, splitting their weekend series at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Ontario scored the game's first three goals before the game's mid-point, giving them all they would need as four different players in all put the puck past Colorado's Kyle Jones .

THE WEEK AHEAD

Wednesday, Jan. 25, Friday, Jan. 27 & Saturday, Jan. 28; Wranglers Make Final Trip of Season to BEC

The Eagles and Las Vegas Wranglers will finish up January -- a month that will see them face-off six times -- with a three-game set that could go a long way toward determining the season's final seedings. The Wranglers enter the week with the 2nd-best record in the ECHL & the Western Conference, six points ahead of Colorado. The games are sure to be offensive, as Colorado & Las Vegas rank 1st & 3rd respectively in scoring & have combined for 55 goals in their six meetings (an average of 9.2) so far.

NOTABLE NUMBERS

WRANGLE LAS VEGAS' OFFENSE - Colorado will need to put in extra effort in the defensive zone this week against the Wranglers. Las Vegas ranks third in the league with an average of 3.45 goals per game and has averaged 5.17 per contest against Colorado (including games of seven and nine goals each). Eric Lampe (19 points) -- the league's leading goal-scorer -- & Adam Miller (12 points) have done the most damage in the six games so far against the Eagles.

THE FINAL FRAME - The third period could prove pivotal in this week's three-game set against the Wranglers. Las Vegas is the league's 2nd-stingiest team in the final frame, allowing just 29 goals all season, while the Eagles are the ECHL's most prolific, putting 50 pucks into the net in the third period.

EARLY & OFTEN - Colorado has found its best success when scoring early and often this season. They're 12-5-2 when scoring first & a combined 17-3-2 when leading or tied at the first intermission (5-11-2 when trailing). Likewise, they're 22-4-4 when scoring three or more goals, but winless (0-10-0) when being held to two or fewer.

TIGHT RACE - As the season just passed its halfway point, the race for playoff seedings is a tight one (save, Alaska). The Eagles enter the week in third place in the Western Conference, six points behind Las Vegas & just two points ahead of Ontario. And the three teams fighting for the final three playoff spots in the conference are separated by just one point.

POWER OUTAGE - The Eagles are hoping that facing Las Vegas will re-ignite their power play. It was earlier this month (Jan. 6 vs. Las Vegas) that Colorado's PP unit hit its high-water mark of the season with a conversion rate of 22.3%. Since then, however, the Eagles' power play has been in a 1-27 slump (3.7%), dropping it to 19.2% overall (6th in the ECHL).
