Express Weekly: Three Games at Home this Week

Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, snapped a 10-game winless skid on the road on Friday, defeating the Cincinnati Cyclones 4-3. Chicago went 1-1-0-0 last week, and are now 17-16-4-2, and their 40 points places them second in the North Division, seven points behind Kalamazoo and three ahead of the Cyclones.

Chicago got the start they needed on the road, as D Scott Wietecha scored 38 seconds into the game. The Cyclones evened the score at 1-1 before the five-minute mark, but Chicago struck twice more in the period as LW Devin DiDiomete and RW Chaz Johson each scored before the first intermission. Cincinnati cut Chicago's lead in half on a 5-on-3 with less than a minute remaining in the second stanza, and evened the score early in the third. F Pierre-Luc Faubert snapped the 3-3 tie with 6:48 left in the game, and Chicago held on to win 4-3. G Peter Mannino stopped 26 shots to earn his first win as a member of the Chicago Express.

CINCINNATI 4, Express 1

The Cyclones netted three goals in the game's opening period, as they cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Express. Chicago was in danger of being blanked until F Kyle Ostrow tallied his ninth goal of the season 8:58 into the third period, for Chicago's lone goal. Cincinnati C Matthew Sisca, who scored twice on Friday, netted the game-winner for the Cyclones 8:33 into the game's first stanza.

Chicago snapped a 10-game road winless streak with their 4-3 victory over Cincinnati on Friday.G Peter Mannino earned his first win as a member of the Express on Friday. He is currently 1-2-0-1 in four starts with Chicago.D Darcy Campbell returned from Oklahoma City (AHL) on Friday and earned an assist in the win.LW Chad Painchaud had a seven-game point streak leading up to Saturday's game. Painchaud had recorded three goals and six assists for nine points during that span, and it was the longest point streak in Chicago Express history.G Peter Mannino became the first Express goalie to force a missed penalty shot when RW Mathieu Aubin missed in the second period on Saturday.RW Tyler Donati tied the Express club record with three assists in a single game on Friday. The other player to accomplish the feat was C Aaron Marvin on December 14 against Toledo.
