ECHL ECHL

Goldie, Christie, Thomas all on verge of milestones

January 23, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release

Alaska's Wes Goldie is nearing the all-time league record for career goals. Goldie has nine points (6g-3a) in his last four games, and ranks second in the league with 23 goals and is fifth with 45 points.

The 32-year-old Goldie, who last year was named ECHL Most Valuable Player, has 358 career ECHL goals, just 10 behind the all-time leader, 2009 ECHL Hall of Fame inductee Rod Taylor . Goldie has scored 40 or more goals in each of the last five seasons, becoming the only player in league history to accomplish the feat. His five career 40 or more goal seasons are tied with Trevor Jobe for the most in league history, and his seven 30 or more goal seasons are one behind Taylor's record.

Goldie's 45 points this season raise his ECHL career total to 589, ranking ninth in ECHL history. With 11 more points, Goldie will become just the seventh player in the league's 24-year history to reach the 600-point plateau. Louis Dumont holds the league record with 891 career points (325g-566a).

Goldie also ranks among the league's all-time leaders in games played. With 39 games this season, he has appeared in 666 career games, ranking fifth in ECHL history. He is 12 games shy of tying Taylor for fourth on the games played list, and 21 games shy of former teammate Allan Sirois for third place. The league's all-time leader in games played is 2010 ECHL Hall of Fame inductee Cam Brown with 789, while Dumont ranks second with 771.

Behind the benches, Ontario's Jason Christie is four wins shy of tying Frank Anzalone for fourth place on the league's all-time wins list at 332. Christie is 328-217-70 in nine seasons with Peoria, Utah and Ontario.

Stockton's Matt Thomas, who is 288-183-70 in eight seasons with the Thunder, Atlantic City and Fresno, is 12 wins shy of becoming just the eighth coach in ECHL history to reach the 300-win plateau.
