South Carolina Stingrays News Release


The South Carolina Stingrays closed out a two-game home series against the Kalamazoo Wings before heading out on a three-game road trip against the Reading Royals and Trenton Devils for a week record of 3-2-0-0. The Stingrays squared off against the Wings on Tuesday at the North Charleston Coliseum. Stingrays Captain Matt Scherer scored two power-play goals and forwards Pierre-Luc O'Brien and Nikita Kashirsky added two assists as the Stingrays grabbed a 4-3 victory. The Rays immediately jumped on the bus to head to Reading to battle the Royals. On Thursday, forward David de Kastrozza recorded three points (2g, 1a) and goaltender Todd Ford earned his 11th professional shutout as the Stingrays blanked the Royals 4-0. The Royals and Stingrays wrapped up their regular-season series on Saturday with Reading taking the win, 4-3. Stingrays defenseman Josh Godfrey buried two power-play goals in the loss. The Stingrays concluded their road trip on Sunday afternoon against the Devils at the Sun National Bank Center. Stingrays defenseman Johann Kroll scored his first goal of the season, forward Jordan Pietrus registered his first professional goal and forward Luke Popko buried the game-winning goal in the seventh round of the shootout to give the Stingrays a 3-2 victory.
