Walleye Notes
- Getting Done in Cincinnati! Friday night that Walleye used two goals from Andy Bohmbach and a game-winner from Adam Keefe with five minutes less to defeat Cincinnati 5-2. Toledo has scored just three goals in three previous games against Cyclones goaltender Marc Cheverie, but they struck for three against him Friday (the last two were empty net goals.
- Starting to find the O! As the weather gets colder, the Walleye offense has been heating up. Toledo has scored 22 goals in the last five games for an average of 4.4 per contest. The Walleye have a record of 3-1-1-0 in those contests. The Walleye power play is 5 for its last 24 (19.2%), which is the best five-game stretch for the unit this season.
- Bombs Away! Walleye forward Andy Bohmbach has been blazing hot in December. In six games this month, Andy has struck for seven goals! Bohmbach has scored 11 goals this season. Andy scored twice on Friday night, and added another in Kalamazoo Saturday.
- Against the North! Toledo has collected 12 of its 21 points this season against Division foes. Toledo is 5-6-2-0 against Wheeling, Cincinnati, and Kalamazoo. The Walleye have outshot those teams by a combined 429-380, and the power play has connected nine times in 60 opportunities (15%).
On the Hook
- Gametime! This week Toledo will travel east to Elmira for a Saturday contest and a Sunday affair in Trenton. The Walleye and Jackals last met on November 3rd in Toledo. Elmira won that matchup 4-1, despite the Walleye having a 38-26 shot advantage. The Devils beat Toledo 4-2 in the lone meeting this year on December 1st.
- Coaches Show! The Walleye Coaches Show returns to Pizza Papalis this Tuesday night at its normal time of 6:00-7:00pm. Walleye Goaltender Jordan Pearce and defenseman Scott Fletcher will join Head Coach Nick Vitucci and Matt Melzak for the show. The show will also feature more giveaways including autographed pucks and tickets to upcoming Walleye home games!
