South Carolina Stingrays News Release

The Stingrays spent Thanksgiving week on the road making stops in Gwinnett, Johnstown and Toledo for a week record of 4-0. On Tuesday, South Carolina headed to The Arena at Gwinnett Center to battle the Gladiators in a South division matchup. Stingrays forwards Spencer Carbery and Michael Dubuc each potted goals, but Gwinnet tied the contest heading late into the third period. With 61 seconds left in regulation, Carbery picked up a loose puck in front on the Gladiator net and swatted home his second of the game and sealed the 3-2 victory for South Carolina. The Stingrays traveled to Johnstown and spent Thanksgiving in the mountains before battling the Chiefs on Friday night in the first game of a three-in-three weekend. Forwards Nikita Kashirsky, Jake Hauswirth, Rob Ricci, Matt Fornataro and defenseman Dylan Yeo each netted goals in a commanding 5-1 victory at Cambria County War Memorial Arena. After the contest, the Stingrays set course for Toledo for their first and only visit to Lucas County Arena this season to swim against the Walleye. On Saturday night, the Walleye jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Stingrays responded with five straight goals to erase the deficit and earn a 5-3 win. Forwards Dain Prewitt, Ricci, Fornataro, Carbery and defenseman Josh Godfrey each lit the lamp. A similar situation occurred on Sunday as the Stingrays grabbed an early goal, but Toledo responded with four straight tallies for a 4-1 lead with 15 minutes left in the game. Defenseman Zach Tarkir and forwards Gregg Johnson and Fornataro ignited the comeback with goals late in regulation to send the game into overtime. Neither team could find the back of the net in the extra session, so a shootout was needed. Stingrays forward Keith Johnson, who scored the first goal of the game, was the only shooter to find the twine as South Carolina defeated the Walleye 5-4. The Stingrays briefly head back on the road Friday to battle the Gladiators in Gwinnett, but immediately return home to host the Elmira Jackals on Saturday and Sunday at North Charleston Coliseum.
