Wheeling Nailers News Release

Wheeling, WV-- The Wheeling Nailers came from behind for the second game in a row but couldn't hold on as they fell 3-2 to the Cincinnati Cyclones. Jordan Fox and Pierce Norton led the team with a goal each. The Cyclones came from behind with a pair of 3rd period goals for the win. The loss ends the Nailers win-streak at two.

The Cyclones took an early lead with Scott Reynolds' 8th of the year from Brett Motherwell and Barrett Ehgoetz in a 3 on 2 situation.

Jordan Fox stuffed it in on the stick hand side of the Cyclones' goalie Robert Mayer for his 3rd of the weekend on the power play to tie it up 1-1. Fox leads the league in shooting percentage at 35% with 6 goals in 17 shots. He had 3 goals on the weekend including a pair of goals Saturday night. Ryan Hillier and Cleve Kinley picked up assists on the game tying tally in the 1st period.

Pretty passing from Slavomir Tomko and Blair Yaworski connected with Pierce Norton who sent it home from the top of the left wing circle for his 3rd goal of the season to give the Nailers a 2-1 lead at 10:02 into the second.

Former Wheeling Nailer Doug Krantz got his 2nd of the season tipping in a Reynolds shot from between the circles tying the game at 2-2.

Jason Jozsa scored the game deciding goal assisted by Matt Pierce late in the 3rd to put the Cyclones up 3-2. Nailers goalie Adam Berkhoel had made the initial save to his stick-hand side hugging the post to his right and then appeared to lose sight of the puck as it came out to Jozsa on the other side.

Wheeling goes to 7-10-2 with the loss while the Cyclones improve to 10-8-1. Cincinnati went 0-for-8 on the power play while Wheeling was 1-for-6. Shots on goal favored Cincinnati 30-23.
