
Stingrays Make Multiple Roster Moves

South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Cail MacLean announced today that the team has signed defensemen Derek Keller and Jeff Caister. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
Keller, 23, joins the Stingrays after completing his senior season at the St. Lawrence University. The Wilkie, SK native appeared in 133 games for the Saints scoring 13 goals and 24 assists for 37 points. Prior to St. Lawrence, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound defenseman played for the Battlefords North Stars of the SJHL where he was a member of two ITECH championship teams and received the Outstanding Defenseman Award twice. Keller also played baseball where he was a member of two league and provincial championship teams.
Caister, 25, skated in 42 games with St. Lawrence earlier this season before signing with the Stingrays scoring 18 points (6g, 12a). In two seasons with the Saints, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound defenseman dressed in 79 games contributing eight goals and 19 assists for 27 points. Caister began his college career at Wayne State University competing in 73 contests and netting 47 points (5g, 42a) before transferring to St. Lawrence because the program was dropped. Before moving to the college ranks, the Mississauga, ON native was a member of the GTHL Major championship team in 2002-2003.
In other Stingrays news, the team has released forward Dain Prewitt and defensemen Jay Cascalenda and Jay Holladay.
