Salmon Kings Sign D-Man Bezzo To ATO

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have signed defenseman Paul Bezzo to an Amateur Tryout Agreement.

The 19-year-old rookie defender joins the Salmon Kings after completing 64 games in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) split between the Owen Sound Attack, Windsor Spitfires, and Belleville Bulls this season. Bezzo began the year in Owen Sound recording no points and 28 penalty minutes in 14 games with the Attack. Following a trade to Windsor he accrued 10 points (2g-8a) and 73 minutes in penalties in 27 games played. Bezzo finished his OHL season with the Bulls after being dealt from the Spitfires where he dressed for 23 contests and tallied three assists with 55 penalty minutes.

The 6-2, 189 lb. Bezzo spent the past two seasons with the Attack where he tallied two goals and 18 assists for 20 points in 120 games while serving 160 penalty minutes.

The Salmon Kings' roster now sits at 23 players (14 forwards, 7 defenseman, and 2 goaltenders).

The Salmon Kings finish their six-game road trip this week in Idaho with games versus the Steelheads on March 26th and March 27th. Victoria returns home to host the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday, March 31st, Friday, April 2nd, and Saturday, April 3rd for the final series of the 2009-10 regular season.
