South Carolina Stingrays News Release

North Charleston, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that Brad Parsons has been recalled by the Portland Pirates of the AHL and that right winger Jonas Johansson has been assigned to the team. Parsons played two games with the Pirates last weekend and returned to help the Stingrays defeat Columbia on Tuesday. Johansson, a rookie, will join the team in Gwinnett, GA in time for the Stingrays game on Friday.

Johansson has played in 32 games this season with the Pirates and scored three goals while adding four assists. He was a first round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2002 (28th overall). A native of Sweden, Jonas stands 6'-2" and weighs 190 pounds.

"Losing Brad up the middle is not going to be easy for this team," said Fitzsimmons. "But we are excited to have Jonas joining us. He has put up strong offensive numbers in Junior and should give us another weapon up front."

In 28 games this season with the Stingrays, Parsons has 16 points on 16 assists. He has spent the last two seasons with the Pirates.

The Stingrays will play two games on the road this weekend. They travel to Gwinnett to face the Gladiators on Friday and Augusta to face the Lynx on Saturday. The team returns home to host the Johnstown Chiefs on Tuesday.
