Mizzi Placed on 7-day IR…Dube Claimed Off Waivers

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that the club has placed forward Preston Mizzi on the 7-day IR and claimed defenseman Jim Dube off waivers. Dube appeared in one game against Reading on Tuesday in a Bakersfield Condors uniform.

Mizzi, 24, was acquired by the Royals on December 3 from the Dayton Bombers. He has appeared in 14 games with the Royals this season notching six goals and 11 points with 20 penalty minutes. Overall the season, the Sault Saint Marie native has eight goals and 16 points along with 52 penalty minutes in 29 games. Mizzi suffered a knee injury on Friday, January 7 in a shootout loss to Bakersfield. He is eligible to return to the line up a week from Friday (January 21) when Reading hosts Trenton in the Sovereign Center.

Dube, 27, returned to ECHL play this season for Bakersfield. The Ottawa, Ontario native played in two games for the Condors during the past week posted no points and registered a plus-1 rating. He had his best season last year in Kalamazoo of the United Hockey League. Dube scored five goals and a career-best 27 points in 71 games. He also appeared in five playoff games but did not score a point while recording nine penalty minutes. The Western Michigan graduate played for the Royals during the 2002-03 season. In 68 games in Reading, Dube scored a career-high six goals plus 14 points.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.

Reading hosts North Division leading Atlantic City tomorrow night. Rieck's Printing has the first edition of Rieck's Printing Royals trading cards which will be distributed to the first 2,500 fans through the gate. Sunday, Reading and Toledo meet for the first time this season in the Sovereign Center and Comcast is handing out thunder sticks to the first 2,500 patrons. On Friday night the puck drops at 7:05 p.m. ET. Sunday's game starts at 5:05 p.m. immediately following the Eagles playoff game versus the Vikings.
