FLORENCE, SC -- The Pee Dee Pride defeated the Texas Wildcatters 4-2 on Thursday night at the Florence Civic Center. Pee Dee improves to 20-12-2 on the season for 42 points, and are tied with Charlotte for first place in the East Division.
Both Chad Spurr and Allan Sirois extended their point-scoring streaks to seven games in the win, while Sirois recorded his 400th point in a Pride sweater.
Pee Dee jumped out to a 2-0 lead through one period on a power-play goal by Brian Collins and an even-strength tally by Kevin Cooper.
Texas pulled within one with the only goal of the middle period, as Ryan Fultz beat Sebastien Laplante at the 8:00 mark.
The Pride scored two goals less than two minutes apart in the opening 4:35 of the final period, as Spurr and Jeff Szwez found the back of the net to make it 4-1.
Fultz set the final with his second of the night at 13:10.
Pee Dee peppered Texas goaltender Phil Osear with shots all night long, outshooting the Wildcatters by a 53-22 margin.
