Second Season Sub-plots

The South Carolina Stingrays will begin the Playoffs on Thursday April 10 and Saturday April 12 at Augusta, before returning to the North Charleston Coliseum on Monday April 14, Tuesday April 15 (if necessary) and Wednesday April 16 (if necessary). Game times for all games are at 7:05 P.M. Thursday's game will be aired on REAL 1340. Saturday's game will be aired on ESPN 910 the TEAM

The Stingrays finished the regular season with a record of 47-22-2-1 finishing in second place in the Southern Division, and with the fourth best record in the ECHL

The 47 wins for the Rays are the most ever in one season. The previous record had been 45 in the 1996-97 season under Head Coach Rick Vaive.

The Stingrays finished the season on a seven game winning streak.

South Carolina has won the Kelly Cup twice, once in 1997 and once in 2001.

The Rest on the Quest

The playoffs officially got underway last night when the Johnstown Chiefs defeated the Dayton Bombers 3-1 in the first game of their best-of-three game series. The winner of the series will play the Cincinnati Cyclones in a best-of-seven series.

The Cincinnati Cyclones clinched the Brabham Cup on Saturday, finishing the season with 115 points

Last year's Kelly Cup Champions, the Idaho Steelheads, are the number four seed in the National Conference and will start their title defense against the Alaska Aces.

The other match ups in the Southern Division are Texas vs. Mississippi, Gwinnett vs. Charlotte and Florida vs. Columbia.

- The Kelly Cup Playoffs will run until the first week of June.

Blast From the Past

The South Carolina Stingrays have made it to the playoffs every year except for one in their 15 year history. Their first season in the ECHL, 1993-94, they made the playoffs under Rick Vaive finishing with a record of 33-26-9 for 75 points. They made it to the playoffs as the number six team in the East, but fell in the first round to the Hampton Roads Admirals two games to one in the best of three series.
