Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Cyclones defenseman Chad Starling has been named Rbk Hockey Plus Performer of the Year by the ECHL. Starling, 27, becomes the first Cyclones player in team history to garner the award. The Cincinnati Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.

Starling, a native of Delisle, Saskatchewan, was even or better in the plus/minus category in 55 of his 63 games and closed out the season by having a string of 30 straight games without finishing on the minus side. The 6-foot-6, 235 pounder finished the campaign at +48. Chad completed the season with two goals and 22 assists for 24 points and led the team with 88 penalty minutes. He was selected Second Team All-ECHL last week.

It was the highest plus/minus rating since 1995-96, when Kim Maier of Knoxville finished at +48. It was the fifth-best plus/minus rating in ECHL history. Victor Gervais of Hampton Roads (1992-93) set the record at +59.

Starling played last season with the Cyclones, registering four goals and 15 assists for 19 points and a team-best +24 plus/minus rating.
