ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades finished off the regular season this past week by winning all three of their games. The Everblades closed out the regular season with a record of 39-24-8 (86 pts., 4th, South Division.)

The Everblades face the Columbia Inferno in the post-season for the first time in team history. During the regular season the Everblades finished with a 4-3-1 record vs. Columbia. At home the Everblades were 3-1-0 vs. Columbia, while on the road, the Everblades were 1-2-1 vs. the Inferno. The most recent meeting between the teams resulted in a 3-2 shootout victory for the Inferno on March 14 at Columbia. The Inferno finished the regular season going 2-0-1 in their last three to capture fifth place. Overall Columbia finished the regular season with a record of 33-28-11 (77 pts., 5th South Division). All-time, in the regular season, the Everblades hold a record of 29-15-8 vs. Columbia. All-time at home Florida is 18-4-4 vs. Columbia and all-time on the road vs. the Inferno, the Everblades are 11-11-4.


Tuesday, April 1 vs. Pensacola Ice Pilots 2-0 Win

The Everblades officially locked up fourth place in the South Division, and home ice in the first round, with a 2-0 win over Pensacola on Tuesday night at Germain Arena. Goaltender Kevin Nastiuk earned his second shutout of the season, both vs. Pensacola, by stopping 24 shots. Offensively Adam Taylor and Preston Callander scored the two goals for Florida. Florida Special Teams: PP: 0-for-6; PK: 3-for-3.

Friday, April 4 vs. Texas Wildcatters 4-2 Win

The Everblades picked up a big win over Texas on Friday night to win their second straight contest. After a scoreless first period, the teams traded goals back-and-forth over the second period with David Cornacchia and Kenndal McArdle scoring for the Everblades. With the game tied 2-2 entering the third period, the Everblades notched goals by Preston Callander and Derek Damon to propel the team to victory. In net David Shantz played a solid game, stopping 25 of 27 shots. Florida Special Teams: PP: 1-for-6; PK: 3-for-3.

Saturday, April 5 vs. Texas Wildcatters 5-3 Win

The Everblades polished off the regular season with a solid 5-3 win over Texas to finished the season on a three-game winning streak. Although Texas came out and scored the game's first two goal, the Everblades fought back to tie the score 2-2 on goals by Jarret Lukin and Preston Callander late in the first and early in the second period. Texas regained the lead a 3-2, but from there the Everblades scored three unanswered goals to pick up the win. Pete Aston notched a second period goal and J.B. Bittner gave Florida its first lead of the night early in the second period. Brad Herauf helped seal the win with a short-handed goal midway through the frame. In net Kevin Nastiuk finished the regular season in strong fashion by stopping 30 of 33 shots, including 19 in the third period and a penalty shot in the final period. Florida Special Teams: PP: 1-for-5; PK: 5-for-7.

Player of the Week Nominees: The week's Everblades player of the week nominee is Preston Callander who picked up four points (3g, 1a) in three games this past week. This week's goalie of the week nominee is Kevin Nastiuk who was 2-0-0 with a shutout and a goals against average of 1.50.

Special Teams Breakdown: Here's a look at the special teams of the Everblades and how they finished the 2006-07 season overall, home and away: Power play: 69-for-406 (17.0%) which ranks the Everblades 15th in the ECHL. At home the Everblades were 43-for-210 (20.5%) which ranks 8th, and on the road the Everblades finished 26-for-196 (13.3%) which ranks 22nd. Penalty Kill: 370-for-428 (86.4%) which ranks the Everblades 3rd in the league. At home the 'Blades were 187-for-209 (89.5%) which is 1st in the league and on the road the Everblades have killed off 183 of 219 (83.6%) chances against them which ranks 7th.

Put 'em Up!: The Everblades set three all-time team records in the penalty minute category during their 4-1 win over Gwinnett on March 28 at Germain Arena. The game featured the team's locking horns for three separate line brawls in the second and third periods. The Everblades set new records for: Most penalty minutes in one game with 113, breaking the previous mark of 79 set in 2003; Most penalty minutes in one game by an opponent as Gwinnett amassed 151, erasing the previous mark of 103 by Jackson in 2003; Most penalty minutes combined in one game with an eye-popping 264, shattering the previous high of 173 set on Feb. 8, 2003 vs. Jackson.

Top Killers!: The Everblades finished the regular season by setting a new team record for penalty killing percentage. The Everblades finished the regular season with a penalty killing with an 86.4%, which broke the previous team high of 84.2% which was accomplished two seasons ago in 2005-06. The Everblades also shattered their penalty killing percentage at home, which finished at 89.5%, dethroning the previous high of 85.2% set in 2003-04.

The voice of the Everblades Kevin Reiter will be joined by head coach Gerry Fleming to discuss the upcoming 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs! Everblades 10th Anniversary Season: 2007-08 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Florida Everblades. In their first nine years the Everblades have compiled a record of 379-198-67 in 644 games...the team has never missed the playoffs in their history, and currently have the longest current streak in the ECHL of consecutive playoff appearances...the Everblades have advanced to the Conference Finals three times in the last four years, and made back-to-back appearances in the Kelly Cup Finals in 2004 & 2005...the team has on Brabham Cup title to its name after finishing with the ECHL's best regular season record in 1999-2000, and the club has won two division titles (1999-2000 & 2006-07).
