South Carolina Stingrays News Release

Estero, FL - The South Carolina Stingrays (31-18-1-6) erased a 3-1 deficit in the third period to defeat the Florida Everblades (33-13-2-4) 4-3 at Germain Arena Saturday evening and tie a team record with their 13th consecutive win. The winning streak is the longest in the ECHL this season and the longest since 2009 when the Stingrays set the mark.

Midway through the second period, Everblades forward Jordan Henry broke the scoreless tie firing a shot past the blocker of Stingrays goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (W, 22 saves on 25 shots) from the left-wing circle at 9:35. After serving a tripping penalty late in the frame, Stingrays forward Derek DeBlois jumped out of the penalty box and joined a rush with defenseman Lee Moffie to rifle a shot over the shoulder of Everblades netminder Andy Iles (L, 18 saves on 22 shots) at 18:21.

The Everblades pulled ahead 3-1 off of two quick tallies early in the third period. Defenseman Mike Little lit the lamp at 4:48 followed by forward Adam Brace's team-leading 22nd goal of the season at 7:55. The Stingrays started the comeback on the power play at 8:54 when forward Joe Devin sent a bounce off the back boards past the right pad of Iles with help from Moffie and forward Wayne Simpson. Stingrays team captain Andrew Rowe made it 3-3 moments later lifting a backhanded attempt over the glove of Iles at 13:55. Defenseman Frankie Simonelli and DeBlois picked up assists.

With 1:27 remaining in the contest, defenseman Wade Epp blasted the puck out to center from the Stingrays goal line where it banked off the legs of an Everblades blueliner and landed on the stick of forward Sean Dolan who walked in on the breakaway and capitalized for the game-winning marker. The Stingrays finished the game 1-for-4 on the power play while the Everblades went 0-for-5.
