Stingrays Fall to Lynx 4-1

South Carolina Stingrays News Release
Augusta, GA - Travis Morin got his team leading 27th goal of the season to give the South Carolina Stingrays a 1-0 lead, but four unanswered goals by Augusta gave the Lynx the lead for good as they beat the Rays 4-1 at James Brown Arena.
"I certainly can't fault the guys for their effort tonight," said Head Coach Jared Bednar. "[Gerald] Coleman had a great game in net especially in the second period."
The Rays got out to an early lead when Morin scored a power play goal at 5:17 from Chris Chaput and Marty Guerin. The lead however was short lived as Bobby Bolt and Louise Goulet scored to end the first period giving the Lynx a 2-1 lead at that point.
The second period featured numerous chances by both teams, but was ultimately dominated by the goaltenders as neither team would up scoring. The third period was a different story as Jeremy Schenderling scored at 5:45 to increase Augusta's lead to 3-1. With less than a minute to go in the game the Rays pulled their goalie, but Chase Watson got an empty netter to make it 4-1, the eventual final.
The winning goaltender was Gerald Coleman who stopped 26 of the 27 shots he faced. The losing goaltender was Josh Johnson who stopped 25 of the 28 shots he faced. The Rays went one for five on the power play while killing off six of the eight short handed situations they faced.
The Rays are back in action tomorrow night when they return home to the comfy confines of the North Charleston Coliseum and play host to the Florida Everblades. It's the Dogs Days of Winter so be sure to bring your dog to the game. Game time will be at 4:00 P.M
