Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder picked up their first-ever win at Save Mart Center, defeating the Fresno Falcons 3-2 on Friday in front of 6,408 fans. It is the first time since December 16 and 18 that the Falcons have lost back-to-back games in regulation.
Stockton got off to a quick start, scoring the game's first goal just 34 seconds into the first period as Brandon Schwartz set up Pat Bateman in the right-wing circle, and Bateman beat Jake Moreland with a quick redirection for his fifth goal of the season.
Adam Huxley added to Stockton's lead with his second goal of the year at 6:41. Jason Beeman's shot hit off the post, and rebounded to Huxley in the crease, and he was able to sweep it beyond Moreland's reach to make it 2-0.
Fresno cut its deficit in half with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 13:52. Brady Leisenring centered a pass in front for Oren Eizenman, and he redirected a shot past Glenn Fisher for his team-leading 25th goal of the year.
But, Stockton answered with a power-play goal of its own at 17:35, taking a 3-1 lead into the first intermission. Moreland made the save on David Rohlfs' shot, but the rebound caromed to L.P. Lanchance in the left-wing circle, and he beat Moreland back to the front of the net with a quick shot for his second of the season.
Stockton maintained its 3-1 lead until the 10:32 mark of the third period when the Falcons again pulled within one. Leisenring picked up a loose puck behind the Thunder net, and stuffed a shot home on the far post for his 19th of the season, and picking up a goal in his sixth straight game.
That was as close as the Falcons would get, despite outshooting the Thunder 16-4 in the third period, and 37-20 for the game.
