Augusta Lynx News Release
Led by 26 saves from goaltender #1 Gerald Coleman, the Augusta Lynx snapped a three-game losing skid by defeating the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday night, 4-1 in front of 3,283 fans at the James Brown Arena. The Stingrays would get the scoring going however, as leading scorer Travis Morin capitalized on the first 'Rays power play of the night with a goal that just snuck underneath Coleman's left pad for a 1-0 lead. It marked the fifth straight game that the Lynx have failed to score first. The Lynx responded with determination just two minutes later as #21 Bobby Bolt smashed home a loose puck past Josh Johnson for his 13th goal of the year with great help from linemates #17 Jeremy Schenderling and #16 Chase Watson, who kept the play alive deep in the 'Rays zone. The Lynx made it 2-1 on a power play goal from captain #9 Louis Goulet, who put home a rebound after a shot from #18 Dan Kronick and help from #20 Matt Auffrey. It was Goulet's 89th career goal as a Lynx leaving him only one behind Jonas Soling's 90 goals, the all-time Lynx record. The 2nd period was the Gerald Coleman show, as the goaltender made several back-door saves, and was the star on a 5 on 3 'Rays power play toward the end of the period. Although the Lynx only managed six shots on goal in the 3rd period, they scored twice to put the game out of reach. Schenderling made it 3-1 with his 6th goal of the season on the power play after a beautiful flip pass from #21 Bobby Bolt and more help from #2 Jason Platt. Chase Watson finished the scoring with an empty-net goal as the Lynx evened the season series with the Stingrays at three games a piece.
