Stingrays Add AHL Experience in Schmidt

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that defenseman Bryan Schmidt has signed with the team. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Schmidt, 29, joins the Stingrays after spending the past two seasons with the Kassel Huskies of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). While with the Huskies, the Bloomington, MN native scored 17 goals and 28 assists for 45 points in 86 games. Prior to playing overseas, the 6-foot-3, 209-pound defenseman appeared in 20 ECHL games with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Reading Royals scoring 16 points (5g, 11a) and 177 games in the American Hockey League with the Milwaukee Admirals, Manchester Monarchs and Providence Bruins netting 30 points (11g, 19a). Before joining the professional ranks, Schmidt spent four seasons at Merrimack College acquiring 34 goals and 56 assists for 90 points in 134 games.

The Stingrays continue their five-game road trip on Friday, October 29 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. at the Bi-Lo Center.
