Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Las Vegas, NV - In a Saturday night matchup at the Orleans Arena, the Victoria Salmon Kings took on the Las Vegas Wranglers in the second game of their two-game set. The Salmon Kings called on David Shantz between the pipes while the Wranglers went with Michael Ouzas.
Victoria opened the scoring at 6:59 of the first frame when Matt Siddall capitalized on a Derek Couture rebound from the top of the slot to put the puck past Ouzas. Siddall's second marker of the season stood as the lone goal of the frame, as the Salmon Kings took their 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Wranglers evened it up on the power play just 27 seconds into the second period as Craig Switzer found the puck after a goalmouth scramble to put it past the goal line. Blake Gallagher put the Wranglers on top at 17:37 when his centering pass hit a leg in the crease and went past Shantz into the net. Las Vegas went into the third leading 2-1.
The only goal of the final period came off the stick of Wranglers' forward Blair Riley, as he secured Las Vegas' victory with an empty net goal at 18:42. Wranglers 3 Salmon Kings 1.
Victoria went 0/6=00.0% on the power play, while Las Vegas was 1/11=9.1%. The Wranglers outshot the Salmon Kings 38-28.
