Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings 3-1 at the Orleans Arena on Saturday night. Blake Gallagher scored the game winning goal, his first professional goal in his first professional game. Craig Switzer and Blake Riley also added tallies for the Wranglers. Michael Ouzas won his second game of the season, turning aside 27 of Victoria's 28 shots. Matt Siddall scored the lone goal for the Salmon Kings and David Shantz had 35 saves on 37 shots.
Victoria scored the only goal of the first period in the form of Matt Siddall, with assists going to Derek Couture and Derick Martin.
Las Vegas came alive in the second period. Just 27 seconds into the middle frame, Craig Switzer scored a power play goal to tie the game at 1-1. Jamie Bates and Ned Lukacevic each earned assists on Switzer's tally. The Wranglers took the lead at the 17:37 mark when rookie Blake Gallagher snuck the puck off a Salmon King defenseman and into the net. Greg Collins and Justin Bernhardt helped in the rookie's first professional point. The Wranglers put up 18 shots in the second period.
The third period saw back and forth action, with the lone goal scored by Las Vegas when Blair Riley scored his first professional goal with an empty netter at 18:42.
The Wranglers will host division foe Bakersfield Thursday night and the Alaska Aces Friday. Both games will be at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
The Las Vegas Wranglers® are the ECHL affiliate to the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes and the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.
