Reading, Pa. - The Elmira Jackals scored five goals in the third period on Saturday night at the Sovereign Center to break open a tie game and go on to defeat the Reading Royals in their 2010 home opener, 7-2. Elmira has scored seven goals in a game twice in its first four contests of the campaign.

Justin Donati scored the first period's lone goal, banging home a shot from the top of the slot two seconds into a Jackals power play at 16:18 after Kevin DeVergilio won the faceoff. The goal was Donati's third in the last two games.

In the second period, Reading's Matt Caruana tied the game at 2:19 on a wrist shot from the left circle, evening the score 1-1.

At 10:30 of the middle period, Eric Lampe scored his second goal of the season, banking a shot from the right goal line off of Royals goaltender Matt Dalton and into the net as Elmira reclaimed the lead, 2-1. Oren Eizenman had the assist on the goal.

Caruana finished off a rebound from an Eric Castonguay shot at 12:45 with Reading on the power play to make it 2-2 in the second period.

Seconds later, Michael Dubuc added to his league-leading goal total with his sixth of the season from the slot to make it 5-2.

Dustin Cameron recorded his first professional goal at 11:17 of the of the third period, finishing off a two-on-one play with Eizenman and capping a 1:23 rush that saw Elmira score three goals.
