
Steelheads Take Two Of Four Point In Anchorage With 3-2 OT Loss

Anchorage, AK- The Idaho Steelheads (1-1-2) fell in overtime for the second straight night as the Alaska Aces (3-1-0) prevailed 3-2 in the extra frame. Mark Derlago scored his fourth goal in four games for the Idaho Steelheads, and Mike Zacharias started his first game in net in an Idaho uniform.
Mark Derlago opened the scoring at 13:05 of the first period on the power play for the Idaho Steelheads as he took a pass from Justin Taylor and quickly sent a puck into the back of the net to beat Alaska goalie Gerald Coleman. The goal was the third consecutive for the Steelheads scored by Derlago, and was his fourth of the season. John-Scott Dickson also assisted on the goal.
At 18:50 of the first period, Brian Swanson tied the game at 1-1 for Alaska when he picked up his own rebound on the Aces' third power play of the period; his goal from the slot was his third of the season.
Chris Langkow picked up a rebound and fired the puck top-shelf at 4:17 of the second period to give Alaska a 2-1 lead as the Aces capitalized on a delayed penalty situation against the Steelheads.
John-Scott Dickson tied the game at 2-2 with a power play goal at 18:19 of the second period as he tapped home his own rebound on the doorstep; Taylor and Cody Lampl assisted on the goal.
After a scoreless third period, the Steelheads and Aces battled to an overtime for the second straight night. At 1:09 of overtime, the Aces scored the game-winning tally as a bouncing puck crossed the goal line; credit for the game-winning tally was given to Jerad Stewart of the Aces.
Mike Zacharias is 0-0-1 after the overtime loss; he turned away 24 of 27 shots in his first start as a Steelhead. Gerald Coleman is 3-1-0 in net for Alaska after stopping 30 of 32 shots in the Aces' win.
The Steelheads' next game is at Qwest Arena against the Utah Grizzlies on October 27th.
