Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, ID- The Idaho Steelheads (17-15-8) skated to a 6-1 victory over the Victoria Salmon Kings (15-21-3) before a crowd of 4,134 at Qwest Arena. Mark Derlago chipped in four points- a season high for a Steelhead- in the club's third win in its last four games. Idaho is unbeaten in regulation over four games.

Adam Taylor scored Victoria's only goal after capitalizing on an errant pass by Idaho goaltender Jase Weslosky 35 seconds into the opening frame.

Purves evened the score when he intercepted an outlet pass in front of the Victoria goal and slid a backhand shot under Salmon Kings' goalie Chris Beckford-Tseu for his sixth of the season at 9:03 of the opening period. The unassisted goal gives Purves goals in back-to-back games.

Kael Mouillierat scored on a favorable bounce off a Victoria defenseman at 3:37 of the second period; the eventual game-winning goal. Mouillierat's power play goal was assisted by Derlago and John Swanson, and was his 17th of the season; a total placing him second on the Steelheads behind Derlago.

Weston Tardy scored on a point shot at 11:48 of the second period- his first of the season- with assists going to Derlago and Michael Neal. Tardy's shot from the right point bounced off a Victoria defenseman and slipped past Beckford-Tseu.

With just six seconds remaining in the second period, Derlago tapped home his 20th of the season after receiving a pass from the side of the net courtesy of Mouillierat on the power play; Tardy also assisted on the goal that gave Idaho a 4-1 lead.

Evan Barlow's rebound goal at 12:07 of the third period extended Idaho's lead to 5-1 on the power play with Mouillierat and Derlago collecting assists; the goal was the third of the season for Barlow.

At 18:22 of the third period, Steve Oleksy capitalized on a Steelheads three-on-one rush. Aki Seitsonen carried the puck up the left wing, found Tristan King in the high slot, and in-turn King offered a touch pass back to Seitsonen, who found Oleksy open on the right side of the net with Beckford-Tseu already commited to the left side. The goal was the sixth this season for Oleksy.

Jase Weslosky earned the win in net stopping 22 of 23 shots; he is 6-5-0. Chris Beckford-Tseu stopped 17 of 23 shots for Victoria; he is now 0-3-0.

Idaho and Victoria will play for the 13th and final time this season Sunday night at Qwest Arena. The puck drops at 7:10 PM.
