Steelheads Take Down Tulsa- Idaho Moves to 8-6-3 at Home

Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID - Rob Linsmayer's tenth goal of the season midway through the second period held up as the game winner, as the Idaho Steelheads (17-16-5) defeated the Tulsa Oilers (16-13-4), 2-1 at CenturyLink Arena to boost their lead over Tulsa in the Western Conference standings to three points.

At 9:43 of the second period, Taylor Peters threw on the after-burners and earned a breakaway on Tulsa goaltender Kevin Carr. Carr came out to the top of his crease to challenge the shot and made the save, coming in contact with Peters in the process. While three Oilers went to the corner to challenge Peters following the collision, including both defensemen Nathan Lutz and Connor Kucera, play continued and Emil Molin fed Linsmayer in front for a go-ahead wrister.

Linsmayer, playing his 101st game as a Steelhead, now has 14 points in his last 11 games. His 34 points are tied for tenth in the league.

The Steelheads opened the scoring at 9:12 of the first period when Andrew Panzarella, playing his first game in nearly a calendar month, released a point shot off an offensive zone face-off that was steered on goal by Kyle Jean. Carr made the initial save, but Andre Morrissette stuck with the puck and banked it in off of Carr from behind the goal line for his sixth tally of the season.

Morrissette now has four goals in his last 11 games.

Emerson Clark did tie the score at 12:59 of the first with his 12th of the season off of an odd-man rush, but that was all Idaho goalie Jack Campbell would allow. Campbell stopped 27 of 28 shots, the third time in his six games in Idaho that he's held an opponent to one goal or fewer. His goals-against is now down to 1.50.

Tulsa Head Coach Jason Christie remains stuck on 499 career wins.

The Steelheads and Oilers face off again on Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena. It will be the second night of the Jayden Deluca Foundation Jersey Auction. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:10pm MT, with the game available on radio on 1350AM KTIK and seen on CableOne and ECHLTV.
