Brampton Steelheads News Release
In a hard-fought contest between the two 905 rivals, the Steelheads prevailed with a 3-2 shootout victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs.
First Period
The Steelheads were looking to snatch a victory on the road in Hamilton against the Bulldogs. The Steelheads sustained tremendous pressure on the Bulldogs' Marco Constantini in the opening frame but could not beat the Hamilton netminder.
Steelheads starting netminder Roman Basran had a quiet first period but managed to hold the fort with some tough saves through traffic at the crease. The fifth-ranked Steelheads penalty kill successfully averted two late Bulldogs powerplay opportunities in the last five minutes of the period.

Second Period
Steelheads strike first in the opening minute of the second period. Luca DelBelBelluz caused a Bulldogs turnover, passed to James Hardie, who went backhand past Constantini to give the Steelheads a 1-0 lead. The shorthanded goal was Hardie's eighth of the season.
Bulldogs responded with two powerplay goals in less than two minutes apiece. The first goal came at the 2-minute mark of the period, with Lawson Sherk shooting top-shelf on Basran for the game-tying goal. The second Hamilton goal came at 3:55 as George Diaco shot five-hole and the puck squeaked between Basran's pads for the 2-1 lead.
Basran and the Steelheads managed to regain their confidence shutting down three consecutive Bulldogs powerplays. The Steelheads netminder had two great saves on Bulldogs' Mark Duarte and Nathan Staios and the last-second pad save on Colton Kammerer to close the period positively.
The Steelheads were looking to capitalize on their lone powerplay by causing traffic around the Hamilton crease. Still, they could not put the puck in the net.
