Attack Can't Handle Storm's Offensive Surge
October 30, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release
In just the second meeting of the season between the Owen Sound Attack and Guelph Storm, and the offence was full display. Unfortunately for Owen Sound they could not handle a strong first period from the Storm, falling 8-4 Friday night in Guelph.
It was a rough start to the game as Guelph came out hard and forced the game on Owen Sound. The Attack struggled to make clean break-outs, and could not find any momentum early in the contest. The Storm were able to take advantage of their chances as they scored four goals on just eight first period shots.
There was a bright side for Owen Sound, as captain Mark Woolley returned to the lineup after an incident from last weeks game in London. Nolan Seed also made his regular season debut after being injured in pre-season, with the veteran defenceman even notching a goal, which brought the Attack within three goals late in the second period.
Unfortunately, a three goal deficit was the closest the Attack would come to the Storm, as the home team seemed able to answer each Owen Sound goal.
Attack rookie Colby Barlow continued his strong campaign, as he sniped his fifth goal of the season, and overage d-man Andrew Perrott picked up a pair of assists, as he continues his excellent season, now leading the team with 13 points.
Mack Guzda got the start in the Attack net, and did all he could to help keep his team in the game, but was eventually replaced early in the second period with rookie Corbin Votary. Votary, like Guzda, tried his best to hold off the Storm's offence, but was beaten four times in his near 40 minutes of action.
Owen Sound will now return home to the Bayshore and welcome former head coach Al Letang and his Sarina Sting for a Saturday night affair.
