It was a different story in the 2nd period and the Rangers woke up and scored three straight goals with one coming on the powerplay. The Spitfires fought back after scoring on the powerplay and Cuylle getting his 6th on the season. Through 40 minutes the Spitfires lead in shots 34-13.
In the third period, just under seven minutes in Kitchener scored on a back door play and that was the game winning goal. Johnston was tripped with under 3 minutes to go and go rewarded with a penalty shot. Johnston went in and deked the goalie burying it upstairs on the backhand. With under 3 minutes to go the Spitfires pulled the goalie twice and Kitchener scored both times to take the game 6-3.
