Kitchener Rangers News Release
The Kitchener Rangers headed down to Windsor to finish a set of back-to-back games on Saturday night, hoping to snap a three-game losing streak.
In the first period, the Rangers' penalty kill was tested early but was successful as they killed off two penalties. Windsor's Will Cuylle opened the scoring with five minutes remaining in the period, making it 1-0. Once again, Pavel Cajan was solid for the Rangers despite being down heading into the first intermission.
The Rangers were given a powerplay two minutes into the period. Declan McDonnell had an easy tap-in to tie the game 1-1. Just after, Mike Petizian scored his fourth of the season to give the Rangers the 2-1 lead. The Rangers added another goal before the midway point of the period, leading 3-1.ÃÂ Windsor would then respond later in the period, making it 3-2. Pavel Cajan continued his play, stopping 32 of 34 shots through two frames.
In the third period, Mike Petizian scored his second goal of the game to regain the Rangers' two-goal lead, 4-2. Late in the period, Windsor's Wyatt Johnston was awarded a penalty shot and capitalized to make the game 4-3. Matthew Sop responded by scoring an empty netter to give the Rangers the 5-3 lead. Mike Petizian finished off the night by scoring a hat trick, the final being 6-3.
