West Valley City, UT - Kellen Briggs stopped 41 shots and the Steelheads' power play racked up four goals, as the Steelheads emerged with a convincing 4-1 win over the Grizzlies from the E-Center on Saturday night.

Three skaters earned multiple points for the Steelheads (19-12-7), who won for the eighth time in their last 10 road games, while jumping to a season-best, seven games over .500 on the year. Furthermore, the visitors second consecutive win also allowed them to claim the three-game series with the Grizzlies (17-16-3), as they fell in regulation for the fifth time in their last seven home tilts.

For the sixth time in nine meetings this season the Steelheads took a 1-0 lead over the Grizzlies, thanks to a five-on-three power play goal by Lance Galbraith, his 14th tally of the season. Marty Flichel and Darrell Hay grabbed the assists, with Flichel getting his 11th point of the season series and Hay getting his 16th helper overall.

Galbraith's goal was the only score for either side in the first period, with the shots favoring the Grizzlies 11-9.

The Steelheads extended their lead to 2-0 with a power play goal by Matt Craig at 4:18 of the second stanza. Skating out from the goal line, Craig had his first shot stopped by Grizzlies' goaltender Mike Mole (17 saves), but he rammed home the rebound for his fifth of the campaign. Alexander Naurov and Kory Scoran picked up the helpers.

The Grizzlies cut the deficit in half on a blast from Ryan Kinasewich, a man advantage goal for the home team at 7:19. Scott Burt and Keith Johnson assisted on the shot from the right circle that beat Briggs, who was screened on the play.

After killing off three consecutive Grizzlies' power plays, the Steelheads man advantage went to work again, converting on both halves of a five-on-three scenario. First, it was Tom Wandell squeaking the puck through the wickets of Mole to make it 3-1, off feeds by Aaron Gagnon and Hay at the 14:39 mark. Just 45 seconds later, Hay ripped a one-timer from just outside the left circle that beat Mole short-side. Flichel and Gagnon registered assists on Hay's seventh of the season.

Through two periods the Steelheads led 4-1 despite being out-shot 26-21. Nathan Lawson (4 saves) replaced Mole between the pipes after the second period.

There was no scoring in the third period, as the Steelheads picked up their eighth road win to improve to 8-7-2 away from home. The final shots favored the Grizzlies 42-25, with all five combined goals in the contest coming via the power play.

The Steelheads return home for two games prior to the all-star break, beginning on Friday, January 18, as the Alaska Aces visit Boise. The puck drops at 7:10 p.m. MST. All the action can be heard live on 1350 AM, KTIK "The Ticket" or via the B2 Networks. Don't forget, Steelheads' single-game tickets can be purchased via www.idahosteelheads.com (using the print-at-home feature), by calling 331-TIXS or from the Qwest Arena box office.
