January 13, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
Led by three points by captain #9 Louis Goulet and a strong goaltending performance by #30 Bobby Goepfert, the Augusta Lynx got back to the winning side of things Saturday night with a 4-1 win over the Mississippi SeaWolves. The win snapped the SeaWolves five-game winning streak and moved the Lynx back into sole possession of 3rd place in the South Division.
The majority of scoring was done in the 1st period as the Lynx got on the board first with Goulet's 10th goal of the season after tipping in a shot from the point by #5 Ken Scuderi. However, Mississippi answered right back with a goal from Chase Trull to tie the game at 1-1. #19 Aaron Slattengren's 27th goal of the year made it 2-1 as he tipped home a shot from the point from #3 Brian Yandle adding the second assist to Goulet.
After a scoreless 2nd period, the Lynx special teams shined again as #10 Geoff Peters scored on a shorthanded breakaway, beating SeaWolves goaltender Morgan Cey high to the glove side. #11 Matt Christie and #15 Eric Lundberg assisted on the play. The Lynx put the final touches on the game as #20 Matt Auffrey found the back of the net thanks to a sweet pass from Slattengren with another assist to Goulet.
Goepfert record another strong outing between the pipes, stopping 29 of 30 shots for the win.
