Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
READING, Pennsylvania - Dany Roussin scored a pair of goal to lead Reading to a 5-3 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones Sunday afternoon. Goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris, who had a 12-0-1 record in his last 13 decisions, suffered his first defeat in regulation time since Nov. 4.
The Cyclones opened the scoring 3:24 into the game, when Jason Deitsch picked up his third goal of the year from Travis Fuller and Gerard Miller. Deitsch took a feed just to the right of Jon Quick eight-feet away to fire the point blank power play goal. Reading tied the game at 1-1, when Kevin Saurette notched his fourth goal at 11:39. Less than three minutes later, at 14:05, Matt Syroczynski re-directed a pass from David Desharnais to give Cincinnati a 2-1 edge. Miller had the other assist. Dany Roussin's eleventh goal with two minutes remaining tied the game at 2-2 after 20 minutes.
Reading wasted little time in the second period to open a 3-2 lead, scoring 20 seconds in-as Dany Roussin collected his second goal of the night. Cincinnati tied the game at 3-3, 37 seconds later, as Shawn Futers netted his first ECHL goal. Futers flipped a puck from behind the net off the leg of a defender in front to knot the scores. The Royals grabbed the lead at 1:59, as P.J. Atherton picked up his ninth goal-giving Reading its first lead of the day at 4-3. Brock Hooton made it a 5-3 edge at 12:33 with his twelfth goal.
The Cyclones are 25-8-3 on the season, tied with Elmira for first place in the North Division. Reading is 20-15-3 and has sole possession of third place in the North Division.
Cincinnati is now 20-5-3 in its last 28 games.
The Cyclones host Dayton on Wednesday night at 7:30pm.
