BOISE, Idaho - Five different Steelheads' skaters potted goals, en route to a convincing 5-1 victory over the Utah Grizzlies (11-5-0) in front of 4,353 fans at Qwest Arena on Saturday night. With the win, the Steelheads (12-3-1) improved to 5-0-1 in their last six contests.

Garett Bembridge put the home team in front midway through the first period with his league-leading 13th goal of the season. The power play marker, which came at 13:46, was assisted by forwards David Bararuk and Mike Stutzel.

Rookie center Kevin Gardner got his first professional goal at 16:45 of the frame to make it 2-0. Fellow rookie Brad Thompson and Justin Cox drew the assists on the team's second man advantage marker of the evening.

In the second stanza, the two teams traded goals. Cox got his fourth of the season at 10:16 with an even-strength goal, as Marty Flichel got the only helper. With the score 3-0, rookie Matt Craig got the visitors on the board at 17:06 of the second period. It was a power play goal, as Craig picked up his 12th of the season, which leads all ECHL rookies.

The Steelheads registered the only two goals of the third period, as Thompson got a power play goal at 4:32 of the frame. Grizzlies' defenseman Ian Forbes turned the puck over in front of his own net, and Thompson cashed in, with assists going to defenseman Jonathan Zion and Flichel. Bararuk rounded out the scoring with his ninth goal at 5:45. In a span of just 73 seconds, the Steelheads had a pair of goals and a four-goal cushion.

The final shots were 29-23 in favor of the home team, as the Steelheads improved to 9-1-1 when out-shooting their opponent. The Steelheads are now 7-2-1 in West Division play and 6-2-0 on home ice. Goaltender Steve Silverthorn (5-1-0) made 22 saves for his fourth straight win, and his fifth overall. Alfie Michaud took the loss for the Grizzlies, dropping to 7-4-0 on the season, while suffering just his second road loss of the season.

The Steelheads, who sit atop the West Division, will take the ice again on December 2nd, when they travel to Las Vegas to battle the Wranglers in a two-game set.
