Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals (11-2-1=23) won their seventh consecutive game by defeating the Trenton Titans at the Sovereign Bank Arena for only the second time in two years, 5-1. In this victory, the Royals spread the scoring around, as the team got five goals from five different players-which is actually the fourth time this season the Royals have scored five or more goals with each goal being scored by a different player-and got stellar goaltending from Cody Rudkowsky, who picked up his eighth win of the season (8-1-0) and extended his personal win streak to five.

Trenton got on the board first, when Mark Lee broke into the Royals zone two-on-one and shot at the perfect moment-just as Rudkowsky had pulled off the short-side pipe anticipating a pass-to pick up his first goal of the season 8:26 into the first period. The Royals responded on their first power play chance of the night, when Greg Hogeboom extended his personal scoring streak to six games with a hard, low slap shot from the point that slipped through Trenton goaltender, Rejean Beauchemin at the 18:53 mark of the first.

59 seconds into the second period, the Royals capitalized on a five-on-three power play, when captain Reagan Rome scored his first goal of the season on a shot from the point that snuck through Beauchemin. (Rome's goal turned out to be the game winner; and, in another hallmark of spreading the scoring around, the Royals have now had eleven game winning goals scored by ten different players-just fourteen games into the season.) The Royals got some insurance when Chris Barr scored his first goal as a pro on another shot from the point-this one with the sixth attacker on the ice because of a delayed penalty against Trenton 14:28 into the second. The Royals added two more in the third-the first a power play goal by Jon Francisco, who also extended a personal scoring streak to six games; and the second by John Morlang on a two-on-one break executed to perfection with Mike Kompon.

The Royals are back home on Friday, December 2 against the Dayton Bombers (7:00 pm) when the organization will give away the first in a series of five bobble-heads commemorating the team's fifth anniversary season. On Saturday, the Royals are once again at the Sovereign Center against the Toledo Storm (7:00 p.m.), when the organization will give away a Royals' picture frame courtesy of the St. Joseph Medical Center.
