Gladiators Power Past Ice Pilots, 7-1

For the second straight night, the Gwinnett Gladiators posted 7 goals, this time picking up the win as they beat the Pensacola Ice Pilots 7-1 on Saturday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Chris Durno and Pascal Pelletier each posted a pair of goals for Gwinnett in the win.

Pascal Pelletier posted his 8th goal of the season on the power play to give the Gladiators a 1-0 lead. Pelletier scooped up a rebound in the bottom of the right face off circle and beat Pensacola netminder Todd Ford for the tally. Chris Durno and Jeff Dwyer added the assists on the goal at 14:27 of the first period.

Jeff Campbell stripped a Pensacola defenseman and walked in on a breakaway. The Hensall, Ontario native then jammed the puck past Ford giving Gwinnett a 2-0 lead. The unassisted shorthanded goal came 27 seconds into the second period.

Scott Kelman pushed the Gladiators lead to 3-0 with his 6th goal of the season. Kelman took a pass on the off wing from Guillaume Desbiens and jammed the puck past Ford for the goal. Lane Manson also had an assist on the tally at 15:32 of the second period.

Chris Durno added to his team lead in goals with his 11th of the season ripping a slapshot from the right wing face off circle beating Ford to the far post. Kelman and Jeff Campbell hooked up to pick up the assists on the tally at 16:54 of the second period.

Durno added his second goal of the game 7:30 into the third period, taking a pass out of the corner from Pascal Pelletier in the slot and rolling the puck past Ford, who was caught on the far post, for the power play goal. Jeff Dwyer also posted an assist on the goal.

Scott Mifsud found a loose puck in the skates of a Pensacola defenseman, tapped the puck free and walked in on a breakaway beating Ford with a quick snapshot to the glove side. Mifsud posted the unassisted tally 12:29 into the third period.

Jan Steber broke Field's shutout bid, beating the Gladiators netminder from the left wing point with a slapshot on the power play. David Turon and Brendan Cook picked up the assists on the power play goal at 14:37 of the third.

Pascal Pelletier posted his second goal of the game with less than four minutes left in the third period. Picking off an Ice Pilots outlet pass, Pelletier ripped a shot past Ford to the far post for the unassisted tally at 16:03 of the third period.

Gwinnett went 2-for-7 on the man advantage while outshooting the Ice Pilots 38-34 in the in the win to improve to 8-3-2 on the season.

The Gwinnett Gladiators continue the 2005-06 season on the road with a pair of game at Florida against the Everblades on Friday, December 2nd and Saturday December 3rd.
