Steelheads Ellis and Cornacchia Recalled to AHL Affiliate Utah Grizzlies

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads today announced today goaltender Dan Ellis and defenseman David Cornacchia have been loaned to its AHL affiliate, Utah Grizzlies.

Both Ellis and Cornacchia will represent the Steelheads in the 2003-04 ECHL All-Star Game next week (January 21st, 2004) in Peoria, Illinois.

Dan Ellis has been assigned to Idaho Steelheads roster this season by the Dallas Stars after he was selected by the NHL team in Round 2 #60 overall 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Ellis has been recalled to Steelheads' AHL affiliate Utah Grizzlies twice this season, in mid-December 2003 when he recorded a 6-0 shutout against Manchester in his first AHL start on December 14th. In three games with Utah, Ellis is 1-2 with a 1.64 goals against average and a .958 save percentage.

With Idaho, Ellis is 13-8-1, 2.56 goals against average and .909 save percentage. He has also recorded two perfect games this season with the Steelheads, one against Cincinnati on Friday, November 7th with a 3-0 shutout in Boise, and again against the Falcons notching a 4-0 shutout in Fresno on January 4th, 2004.

David Cornacchia is the leading defenseman in scoring with the Steelheads having tallied 11 points in his last 10 games (1 goal, 10 assists). Cornacchia is second on the team in scoring with 29 points (5 goals, 24 assists), and ranks 9th overall in the League in scoring for defenseman.

The Idaho Steelheads will host the Long Beach Ice Dogs at the Bank of America Centre on January 16th and 18th, with a visit to Fresno sandwiched between the home games.
