Ganga Selected to All-Star Team

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Ice Dogs left wing, Nick Ganga, has been selected to represent Long Beach as a member of the Western Conference at the 2004 Par-A-Dice All-Star Game. The game will be held on January 21 in Peoria, Illinois.

Ganga was chosen to replace center, Krzysztof Wieckowski, after Wieckowski was put on the 30 day IR. In his first season with the Ice Dogs, Ganga has played in 32 games, registering 10 goals and 8 assists. His 18 points rank him 3rd on the team, and 111 penalty minutes have him tied for first in Long Beach. He has been a solid contributor all season, and has scored 12 points in the last 10 games (6-6-12).

The Long Beach, California native was acquired in the off-season as a free agent. Ganga registered 5-20-25 and 138 penalty minutes in 54 games for Quad City of the United Hockey League last season. Prior to playing in Quad City for two seasons, he played three years at Ohio State University playing in 100 career games and recording 17-24-41 and 192 penalty minutes.

The Western Conference All-Star staring lineups were determined by votes tallied from Western Conference coaches, team captains, media representatives, broadcasters and newspaper writers. Coaches also submitted the top prospects in their conference to determine the final roster, with each of the 14 teams in the conference being represented.

The 2004 Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition will be held at 9,919-seat Carver Arena at Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois. Hosted by the Peoria Rivermen and presented by the Par-A-Dice Hotel & Casino, the Skills Competition will be held at 7 p.m. on January 20 while the 12th Annual ECHL All-Star Game will be played at 7 p.m. on January 21.
