
Ice Pilots Trade Jim Abbott To Toledo

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots, under the new ownership group of Hockey Enterprises of Pensacola L.L.C. with owner Tim Kerr, announced that forward Jim Abbott has been traded to the Toledo Storm for left wing Wes Mason and defenseman Brandon Fleenor.
Mason, who stands 6'2" and weights 195 pounds, has played in 35 games for the Toledo Storm this season scoring 11 goals, 9 assists for 20 points and has picked up 76 penalty minutes. Mason played in 48 games for Toledo last year scoring 17 goals, 19 assists for 36 points and picked up 40 penalty minutes and played in 21 games for Milwaukee in the AHL scoring 3 goals, 1 assist for 4 points and picked up 16 penalty minutes.
Mason Helped the Orlando Solar Bears win an IHL Championship during the 2000-2001 season playing in 45 regular season games scoring 13 goals, 14 assists for 27 points and picked up 52 penalty minutes and played in 16 playoff games scoring 6 goals, 7 assists for 13 points and picked up 24 penalty minutes. He has also played for Augusta in the ECHL, Providence, Grand Rapids, Louisville and Albany in the AHL.
Mason played his junior hockey with Sarnia, Sudbury and Kingston from 1994-1998. He was selected in the second round and was the 38th overall player selected in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils. Mason is 26 years old from Windsor, Ontario and shoots left.
Fleenor, who stands 6'2" and weighs 210 pounds, has played in 29 games for Toledo this season scoring 1 goal, 2 assists for 3 points and picked up 73 penalty minutes and has played in one game for Milwaukee in the AHL. He played in 71 games last year with Toledo scoring 2 goals, 9 assists for 11 points and picked up 200 penalty minutes and played in one game for Cleveland in the AHL last season picking up 17 penalty minutes.
Fleenor has also played for Adirondack and Rockford in the UHL, Tacoma in the WCHL and the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCJHL. He is 25 years old from Chilliwack, British Columbia and shoots left.
Abbott has played in 34 games for the Ice Pilots this season scoring 19 goals, 13 assists for 32 points and has picked up 32 penalty minutes.
The Ice Pilots will play at Mississippi this Friday night at 7:35 p.m. and will play at Louisiana this Sunday at 4:05 p.m. The Ice Pilots next two home games are Friday, January 23rd and Saturday, January 24th against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. Friday night is Military Appreciation Night with discounted tickets for the military and Saturday is NASCAR Night sponsored by Hill Kelly Dodge. #9 Dodge NASACAR will be on display along with other NASCARS from local drivers around the area.
