-SPIKES FINISH JAMMERS ROAD SERIES TONIGHT: The State College Spikes finish off their three-game series against the Jamestown Jammers tonight at Russell Diethrick Park to complete the first half of their six-game road trip. State College is 22-30 all-time against the Jammers, including a 11-16 record at Jamestown. The Spikes will have only one other road trip this season that lasts as long as six games.
-LAST NIGHT: The State College Spikes snapped a 19-inning scoreless streak in game one, then set a new season high for runs in a single contest in a 4-1 game two win to earn a doubleheader split with the Jamestown Jammers on Friday night at Russell Diethrick Park. The Jammers took game one, 2-1. Alex Fusilier's RBI triple and Matt Skirving's RBI double paced the Spikes offense to victory in the second game, with Fusilier's three-base hit being the first for any Spikes player this season. Justin Bencsko stole two bases in the doubleheader, and scored the only Spikes run in game one.
-ALLIE MAKES SECOND SPIKES START: 2010 second-round draft pick Stetson Allie (0-0) makes his second professional start, and first on the road, tonight for State College . Allie allowed three runs on two hits and three walks over 2 1/3 innings in a no-decision against Auburn on Monday. The Olmsted Falls, OH native was rated as the third-best prospect in the Pirates system by Baseball America prior to the season.
-PEALE ON THE MOUND FOR JAMMERS: Jamestown will send right-hander Thomas Peale to the hill tonight for the last game of the series. Peale, the 23rd-round draft choice of the Marlins in 2009, has made one relief appearance and one start for Jamestown in 2011. The Long Beach, CA native made an appearance for Advanced-A Jupiter earlier this year, allowing three runs in 0.2 innings of relief against Bradenton (affiliate of the PIrates).
