JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Jamestown Jammers had their four-game winning streak

snapped as the State College Spikes strung together two-out hits to win, 4-1, at Diethrick Park Friday night.

State College jumped out to an early lead for the second straight contest, and it all started

with two outs in the third inning. Taylor Lewis walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. Alex Fuselier tripled to plate the first run, and he scored on a single by Justin Benckso to make it 2-0.

Jamestown would answer in the bottom of the inning with a run. Nestor Castillo reached

on a fielding error and advanced to third on a single by Alfredo Lopez. Marquise Cooper hit into a sacrifice double play when he lined out to center to score Castillo and double off Lopez.

It was more two-out lightning for the Spikes in the fourth inning as Samuel Gonzalez

singled, and Matt Skirving doubled to push the lead back to two.

State College would add an insurance run in the top of the sixth after Bencsko worked a

leadoff walk and stole second. Chris Lashmet advanced him to third with a single before Carlos Mesa bounced into a run-scoring double play.

Austin Barnes started the bottom of the seventh with a single as Jamestown tried to

mount a rally, but the next three Jamestown batters were sent down in order to end the game.

Helpi Reyes took the loss for the Jammers. He is now 0-2 after giving up three earned

runs in five innings.

For State College, Fraylin Campos earned the win after throwing 2.2 innings of scoreless

relief. Matt Benedict tossed 4.1 innings, surrendered five hits and one unearned run to take his second straight no decision.

Barnes led the Jamestown offense with two hits in his professional debut, and he was the

only player on either side to have multiple hits.

The two teams will be back in action with the rubber game of the series tonight at 7:05.
