JAMESTOWN, NY - It's been a whirlwind season for the Jamestown Jammers. There have been long winning streaks, long losing streaks, triumphant victories, and heartbreaking losses. The Jammers will play their final two home games of the 2014 season today, and tomorrow against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. The Jammers enter today's game with an overall record of 34-39, and they are 4-6 in their last 10 games.

The Scrappers enter today's game with an overall record of 32-41, and are 5-5 in their last 10 games. The Jammers and Scrappers faced of earlier this week Wednesday, and Thursday in Mahoning Valley. The Scrappers won Wednesday's game 8-7. and the Jammers took Thursday's contest by the score of 2-1.

Probable Pitchers

Sunday, August 31st: RHP Cameron Hill (Mahoning Valley, 1-2, 1.75 ERA) vs. RHP Montana DuRapau (Jamestown, 3-2, 2.21 ERA)

Cameron Hill: Right-handed pitcher from El Reno, Oklahoma. 17th round pick in 2014 out of Redlands Community College in Oklahoma. This past season for Redlands Community College, Cameron Hill struck out 62 batters over 57 1/3 innings, and had an ERA of 4.37. Has made 13 appearances for Mahoning Valley in 2014. In 51 1 /3 innings, Hill has given up 34 hits, 10 runs (all earned), has walked 20, struck out 29, has a 1-2 record, and an ERA of 1.75.

Montana DuRapau: Right-handed pitcher from Deltona, Florida. 32nd round pick in 2014 out of Bethune Cookman University. This past season for Bethune Cookman, DuRapau made 19 appearances (16 starts), threw 117 1/3 innings, struck out 103 batters, had a record of 11-1, and an ERA of 1.61. Has made 14 appearances for the Jammers in 2014 (10 starts). In 57 innings, DuRapau has given up 55 hits, 17 runs (14 earned), has struck out 52, has a 3-2 record, and an ERA of 2.21.

Monday, September 1st: TBD (Mahoning Valley) vs. RHP Alex McRae (Jamestown, 3-5, 5.34 ERA)

Alex McRae: Right-handed pitcher from New Berlin, Wisconsin. 10th round pick in the 2014 Draft out of the University of Jacksonville. This past season for Jacksonville, McRae made 16 appearances (15 starts), threw 87 2/3 innings, gave up 102 hits, struck out 69 hitters, had a record of 5-7, and an ERA of 6.06. Has made 14 starts for the Jammers in 2014. In 64 innings, McRae has given up 76 hits, 39 runs (38 earned), has walked 15, struck out 44, has a 3-5 record, and an ERA of 5.34.

Players to Watch (Jamestown)

For the Jammers, infielder Chase Simpson has been scorching hot lately. In Friday night's win at Williamsport, Simpson collected three hits, and three RBIs. In his last 10 games, he is hitting a scorching hot .474, with 18 hits in 38 at-bats, two home runs, and nine RBIs. On the season, Simpson is hitting .290 (which leads all qualified Jammers) in 53 games, with 53 hits in 183 at-bats, seven home runs, 14 doubles, one triple, and 30 RBIs. Montana DuRapau has been pitching well all season long to this point. In his last two starts, he has thrown 11 innings, has only given up one run, has struck out 14, and picked up one win. He will toe the rubber for the Jammers today against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Infielder Tyler Filliben is hitting .429 in his last seven games, with nine hits in 21 at-bats, two RBIs, and hit his first home run of the year Thursday in Mahoning Valley.

Players to Watch (Mahoning Valley)

On the Mahoning Valley side, infielder Steven Patterson is hitting .297 in his last nine games, with 11 hits in 37 at-bats, one home run, and five RBIs. On the season for the Scrappers, Patterson is hitting .260 in 52 games, with 54 hits in 208 at-bats, 20 doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 22 RBIs. Catcher Francisco Mejia is hitting .323 in his last eight games, with 10 hits in 31 at-bats, one home run, and eight RBIs. On the season, he is hitting .281 (which leads the Scrappers), with 68 hits, 16 doubles, three triples, two home runs, and 35 RBIs.
