Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release
BURLINGTON, VT - The Connecticut Tigers took a 2-0 lead into the fifth inning when the sky's opened up and heavy rains fell on Centennial Field, causing the game between the Tigers and the Vermont Lake Monsters to be suspended.
The game will be finished as part of a doubleheader the next time the Tigers come to Vermont, which is for a two-game set on August 28 and 29.
The game was stopped in the top of the fifth with no outs, Jonathan Ogden on first base and Les Smith at the plate.
Connecticut took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a Zach Maggard RBI groundout to score Dean Green. They would add on another run in the third to take a two-run lead.
Tiger's starter Brennan Smith was pitching lights out with four shutout innings in the books. He surrendered just one hit and issued a walk.
The Tigers will now head to Troy, New York to take on the Tri-City ValleyCats in a three-game series beginning tomorrow. First pitch is set for 5:00 PM.
