-SPIKES CONTINUE SEASON-OPENING SERIES WITH WILLIAMSPORT: The State College Spikes head back to Susquehanna Bank Park at Historic Bowman Field tonight for the third game of a four-game set against the Williamsport Crosscutters. The Spikes are 2-0 for the first time in franchise history, and the defending PInckney Division champions have taken sole possession of the division lead to open up the 2014 campaign. Following tonight's game, the two teams will head back to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in State College to finish the series on Monday night. The Spikes are 48-50 all-time against Williamsport, and won the 2013 SawBuck Series by going 8-4 against the Crosscutters. State College has won six of its last seven road games against the Crosscutters.

-LAST NIGHT: A sellout crowd of 5,801 fans, the third largest in State College Spikes history and the largest crowd at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park since July of 2010, watched the Spikes come back to beat the Williamsport Crosscutters, 6-2, on Saturday night in the 2014 Home Opener.

Trailing 2-0 after the first inning, the Spikes rallied in the middle innings to top the Crosscutters (0-2) for the second straight night. Robelys Reyes delivered three hits in the leadoff spot for State College. Alex De Leon and Leobaldo Pina each doubled for the Spikes as well.

Spikes starter Steven Farinaro allowed the first two Williamsport runs in the first inning, but settled down and recorded ten consecutive outs to end his evening. Farinaro tossed a total of five innings in which he yielded four hits while striking out two. Trey Nielsen earned the win in his professional debut with two perfect innings of relief in which he compiled four strikeouts.

-McKINNEY MAKES START FOR SPIKES: Left-hander Ian McKinney gets the ball tonight for State College. McKinney was the Cardinals' fifth-round draft choice last year out of Boone High School in Orlando, FL, and began his pro career with the Gulf Coast League Cardinals in 2013. The southpaw had a tremendous season in the GCL, posting a 0.89 ERA in ten appearances, five of them starts, covering 30 1/3 innings. McKinney also recorded a 24-to-12 strikeout-to-walk ratio for the GCL Cards. The 19-year-old is the third straight teenager to start on the mound for the Spikes this season, after Opening Night starter Dewin Perez and Home Opener starter Steven Farinaro.

-WILLIAMSPORT TAPS WHITEHEAD FOR MOUND START: Right-hander David Whitehead makes the start for the Crosscutters tonight. Whitehead will make his pro debut this evening after missing the 2013 professional season due to a right elbow sprain. The Burlington, NC native was selected by the Phillies in the 34th round of the 2013 Draft by the Phillies out of Elon University in North Carolina, the same alma mater as 2013 Spikes pitcher Kyle Webb. Whitehead was a Cape Cod League All-Star in the summer of 2012, and was also drafted by the Blue Jays as a 36th-round pick out of high school in 2010.

-FAMILIAR FACES IN SPIKES DUGOUT : Manager Oliver Marmol, hitting coach Ramon "Smokey" Ortiz and pitching coach Dernier Orozco all mkae their return to State College this season for their second straight year guiding the Spikes. Athletic trainer Dan Martin and Strength and Conditioning Coach Dan Paugh also come back to their posts for a second consecutive season. Five 2013 Spikes will also resume their time in State College, including pitchers Jacob Booden, Josh Lucas and Jeff Rauh. Infielder Alex De Leon, who caught for the Spikes last year, and outfielder Brian Vigo-Suarez round out the returning cast.

-SPIKE MARKS: The last time the Spikes welcomed a crowd as big as Saturday's to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park was on July 30, 2010, when 5,807 fans saw Williamsport top State College, 7-6...The ballpark record attendance for a Spikes game is 5,836, set at the 2011 Home Opener against Williamsport...Williamsport pitcher Elniery Garcia, who finished last night's game with 1 2/3 innings on the mound, is the Crosscutters' only left-hander on staff
