Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Wappingers Falls, NY - Dylan Bundy got the start for the Aberdeen IronBirds on Sunday against the Hudson Valley Renegades. Unfortunately for Bundy and Aberdeen, the IronBirds fell to 0-3 on the season as they lost to the Renegades by a score of 4-2.

Bundy threw 65 pitches in five innings, and retired the first five batters he faced. With two outs in the second inning, Renegades' catcher Chris Talley hit a single, but was stranded at second after a Bundy strikeout.

In the third inning, David Garcia led off with a single. He advanced to third on a Douglas Duran ground rule double, and would score on a Bralin Jackson ground out, making it 1-0 Hudson Valley.

After allowing a one out triple to left field off the bat of Elias Torres in the fourth, Bundt got out of the jam with a strikeout and ground out to first.

Duran struck again in the fifth inning with a one out double, but Bundy again stranded the Renegades with a strikeout and a ground out.

In all, he pitched five innings, allowing five hits, one run (earned), struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Hudson Valley would jump on Aberdeen reliever Stefan Crichton in the sixth. Crichton hit Mac James with a pitch and then saw Casey Gillaspie hit a long home run to right field, making it 3-0 Renegades. Hudson Valley wasn't done in the inning, as Torres reached on an infield single and would come around to score two batters later on a Clayton Henning sac fly to center, giving the host team a 4-0 lead.

Aberdeen would make a rally in the top of the ninth. Aberdeen loaded the bases after Steve Wilkerson was hit by a pitch, a Manny Hernandez walk, and an Alexander Mercedes single. Jonah Heim, the IronBirds' starting catcher, then hit a fly ball to deep right field, allowing Wilkerson to score, and making it 4-1 Renegades. Hernandez would score on a wild pitch with Cory Segui at the plate, getting the IronBirds within one at 4-2. The next batter, Sam Kimmel, flew out to left field to end the game.

Bundy takes the loss in his IronBirds debut. Nolan Gannon earns his first win of the season for the Renegades, going five innings, allowing one hit and two walks, striking out one.

The IronBirds and Renegades conclude their four game series tomorrow night beginning at 6:05 p.m. Aberdeen will send LHP Augey Bill to the mound, while the Renegades will counter with LHP Oscar Armenta.
