Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Another Walk-off Win for Hudson Valley

The Aberdeen IronBirds pushed a run across in the top of the ninth inning to force extras last night, but for a second night in a row, the Hudson Valley Renegades walked off winners, 4-3 in 11 innings. Garrett Cortright took the loss, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing two hits, (both of which came in the 11th inning) one run, and one walk, striking out two. Aberdeen pounded out 11 hits in the loss.

Tarpley Makes IronBirds' Debut

IronBirds' LHP Stephen Tarpley made his first start of the season last night, and went four innings, allowing six hits, three runs (all earned), one walk and four strikeouts. He allowed two solo home runs, but did not factor into the decision as the IronBirds forced extra innings late in the game, taking Tarpley off the hook.

Delgado, Cortright Strong Out of 'Pen

RHP Dariel Delgado and RHP Garrett Cortright combined for 6.2 innings of relief last night. While Cortright was saddled with the loss, the two allowed five hits and two walks, teaming up for eight strike outs on the night. Delgado worked out of a bases loaded, one out jam in the bottom of the seventh, getting a strike out and a groundout. Cortright retired nine of the first 10 batters he faced before allowing the two hits in the 11th inning that got Hudson Valley the win.

Ledesma Powers Up

Ronarsy Ledesma hit a towering home run to right field last night in the seventh inning, getting the IronBirds back within one at the time, at 3-2. He then came up in the top of the ninth inning and, after a balk advanced Hector Veloz to third base, hit a ground ball back up the middle to score Veloz and tie the game. Ledesma nearly had another hit in the 11th, but a diving stop from Renegades' third baseman Hector Montes prevented a base hit.

On the Mound Tonight...

RHP Dylan Bundy will make his first ever appearance for the IronBirds when he takes the mound tonight. He is rehabbing from Tommy John surgery that occurred on June 27, 2013. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles as the fourth overall pick in the 2011 MLB Draft. He will be opposed by RHP Nolan Gannon, who was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the fourth round of the 2012 MLB Draft.
