CT Tigers Bullpen Blows Bailey's Gem

Troy, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats defeated the Connecticut Tigers 3-2 Sunday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. ValleyCats 1B/LF Ariel Ovando (1-4) hit a walk-off RBI single that scored RF Ravel Santana (0-2) to beat the Tigers 3-2.

The Tigers bullpen pitched three innings and allowed three runs as they blew starter RHP Tanner Bailey's gem performance. Bailey pitched six innings allowing no runs on three hits and struck out nine batters.

RHP Micah Kellog (BS, 1) allowed two runs on one hit. ValleyCats DH J.D.

Davis (1-4) hit a two run homerun off of Kellog to tie the game at two runs. RHP Johnnie Kirkland (0-1) suffered the loss in his second appearance of the season. Kirkland allowed one run on two hits. The big hit coming from Ovando on the walk-off single.

DH Orvin Tovar (2-4) was a spark in the lineup for the Tigers has he had a pair of singles and an RBI single that scored CF Rashad Brown (1-3) in the first inning that gave Connecticut an early 1-0 lead. RF Ismael Salgado (1-4) had an RBI single in the second inning that scored C Chris Taladay (1-4) to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers and Vermont Lake Monsters begin a three-game series tomorrow night in Burlington, VT. In the series opener, Connecticut RHP Austin Pritcher (0-0) is slated to face off against Lake Monster's LHP (0-0) Jose Torres.
