-SPIKES STRIVE FOR SERIES WIN TONIGHT: The State College Spikes will look to win a series for the first time in 2011 when they face the Mahoning Valley Scrappers at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in the final game of a three-game set. Tonight's game will also be the last of six straight meetings between the two teams this week. The Spikes are 25-30 all-time against the Scrappers, with a 15-12 mark all-time at home against the Indians affiliate.

-LAST GAME: Ryan Hafner delivered a strong five innings to match the longest outing of the year for a Spikes pitcher, but the Scrappers struck late to take a 7-3 win on Thursday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Hafner, the 17th round draft pick of the Pirates in 2010, struck out four batters during his tenure on the mound to become the third straight State College starter to last five innings, following Nick Kingham and Matt Benedict. Mahoning Valley then took a lead it would not relinquish with three runs in the eighth inning off Spikes reliever Josh Poytress. Chris Lashmet had two hits and an RBI for State College.

-ALLIE TO MAKE THIRD PRO START: Right-hander Stetson Allie heads back to the hill for the third appearance of his pro career tonight. Rated byBaseball America as the third-best prospect in the Pirates' system, Allie allowed two runs in 2 2/3 innings in his last mound appearance on Saturday in Jamestown, walking four hitters but striking out three. The right-hander has also been noted as having the best slider in the Pirates system by BA.

-RADEKE FACES FAMILIAR FOE FOR SCRAPPERS: Mahoning Valley right-hander Mason Radeke makes his second pro start tonight against the same team he faced in his first pro victory on Sunday. Radeke allowed a run on three hits and two walks over five innings against the Spikes last time out. The Cal Poly product was taken in the 35th round of the 2011 draft by the Indians after placing second in the Big West in strikeouts this past spring.
