Jamestown Jammers News Release

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - After getting shut down by Batavia starter Seth Maness for six innings, the Jamestown Jammers dinged the Batavia bullpen for the third time in the series to rally for seven combined runs in the seventh and eighth innings to top the Muckdogs, 8-6, at Diethrick Park Friday night.

Maness held the Jammers (9-6) to just one hit on the mound, but, for the second time in the series, relievers cost him the victory. Adam Bileckyj came on in the seventh inning, and he promptly gave up a home run to the first batter he faced, Terrence Dayleg, to inch Jamestown closer at 6-2. Ryan McIntyre followed with a walk and Jobduan Morales added a single.

Viosergy Rosa plated McIntyre with a double, and Yefri Perez singled in Morales, but the shortstop was thrown out trying to turn his hit into a double.

Ricky Martinez came on to stop the damage, but Alfredo Lopez added a RBI ground out to cut the Batavia advantage to one before the Muckdogs (6-9) could escape the inning.

In the bottom of eighth, the Jammers struck with some two-out lightning against Martinez. Brent Keys had a single to lead off the inning, but the next two batters were retired as he advanced to second. Morales then ripped a triple into Grissom's Gardens to tie the game. Rosa then replicated the feat with another three-bagger to an almost identical spot to push Jamestown in front. Finally, Yefri Perez reached on a fielding error to plate Jamestown's eighth run.

Alfredo Buret would slam the door in the ninth inning to lock up Jamestown's ninth win of the season and earn his third save.

While the Jammers lead early and late, things looked bleak for the team during the middle innings.

Marquise Cooper reached on an error and moved to second to start the game, and he later scored on a single by Keys to put the Jammers in front 1-0, but Batavia would rally back thanks to three solo home runs.

Jeremy Patton and David Medina would hit back-to-back opposite field homers in the fourth inning to put the Muckdogs in front 2-1. Then, Romulo Ruiz would turn on one to left field to spark a four-run outburst in the sixth inning.

After the homer, Juan Castillo singled and Virgil Hill walked before Cesar Valera bounced into a double play. The next four batters would reach on three singles and a hit by pitch to plate three more runs and give Batavia a 6-1 lead to set the stage for the late inning heroics.

Rosa led the Jamestown offense with a double, triple, two runs and two RBI. Morales also added two hits with the triple and a RBI, while Brent Keys had his third multi-hit game in four games with a pair of singles.

Albaro Estevez earned the win for Jamestown to improve to 1-1 after throwing 2.1 innings of shutout relief and striking out three.

For Batavia, Patton led the offense with two hits, including the homer, and three RBI, while Medina had a double and the solo shot. Martinez took the loss for the Muckdogs to fall to 0-2.

Jamestown will now host Williamsport Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
